Hi i’m making sangria, which type of red wine is the best to make it from?
I live in Spain and often make my own sangria. I just use a cheap carton costing about 1€. The flavour comes from using Spanish brandy, cointreau, vodka, peach schnapps and a light lemonade like La Casera or light sprite. There is the fruit you put in the sangria. Some people put orange juice in as well.
Edit; Interestingly enough, restaurants over here make white sangria as well. It’s basically the same recipe as red sangria. Another way is to make it with cava (sparkling wine like Champagne).
yellowtail makes good reds
cheap to
you dotn need an expensive one because the flavor gets masked by the fruits and other ingredients

Something cheap. Sangria is more about what you put in it than the wine.

Get a bag-in-box of some cheap "Burgundy". It will be perfect.
Sangria tip – add some Grand Marnier…yummy!
Save the 1992 Argentinian Merlot for the salad dressing.

I’d use Lambrusco. It’s an inexpensive, great tasting red wine that you actually drink cold, unlike other red wines. Since Sangria is served cold I’d give the Lambrusco a try. Good luck!
