Have you ever heard of the song Wine and Sports by Ben Folds Five then you will probably agree with me that there is a significant association with a good bottle of wine when it comes to Sports theme celebrations and festivities. There has been a rapid movement of many sports fans, particularly NFL and College football followers from wine to beer as their preferred alcoholic beverage when watching a game or when in a sports-related gathering. I believe that it’s because many sports fans can relate the characteristics of their favorite bottle of wine to their individual NFL team preferences.
If you watch JustJess from the Wine Channel then you’ve probably seen Jess Altieri of WineHarvest talk about the impact of each wine depending on its character, blend and where it was brewed. Pro Football is the same in many ways, where NFL Rivalries are settled by each team’s athleticism, line up and where it is being played.
Being a major Packers fan, I can’t help but think about what brand and type of wine I would use to associate them with. If the NFL had to come up with an Official Sports Wine for the Green Bay Packers then I sure hope it’s a good bottle of Cuvee Ines Rouge 2004. This masculine Rogue is made from a rich blend of Syrah plus Mourvèdre, known for its full body and strong crisp flavor. The Green Bay packers are made of the exact characteristics, the ultimate super athletes that come out strong and victorious in every game it plays.
